Nathan’s Concierge Countertop Design Service Process begins with a Free Design Session and Quote and the result is a custom countertop with unsurpassed craftsmanship and quality.

When he meets you for the first time, he will gather requirements and define your countertop. At your in-home visit, Nathan will work with you to determine your preferences, the countertop features you want and your design concept. He will use his laser measurement instrument to read the exact dimensions of your existing countertop.

With your requirements, Nathan will have enough information to suggest and recommend stone samples and photos. You will be able to shop from home at your own pace, ask questions, and receive answers from an expert who’s more than just a sales consultant. The best part is you’re not being rushed or stressed.

Nathan’s Concierge Countertop Design Service is a proven process that’s both enjoyable and hassle-free for his clients. His design session begins with one-on-one education and answering client questions. He has been using this approach for 2 decades to make it easy and a pleasant experience for you and him. Its purpose is to custom design the countertop you want and have it fabricated and installed for you.

The first important decision you need to make is to choose the category or type of stone. Nathan will recommend choosing from the most popular engineered stone, Quartz, or from the top 3 most popular natural stones, Quartzite, Granite and Marble. Nathan can work with any stone you select. Your stone countertop is made from scratch – a stone slab.

These most popular stone categories offer the most extensive stone slab inventories and assortment, as well as variations in stone composition and color. Your stone category decision is primarily influenced by your lifestyle and the stone attributes and characteristics that you find most appealing. Once the stone category is decided, what remains is to choose the color, vein patterns and stone characteristics.

Once you decide on the stone category, Nathan will create a high-level design and calculate an accurate price that will be your final guaranteed price with a proposal for the entire project. At this point, Nathan knows about 90% of what you want from the stone. He will create a shortlist of slabs for your review and arrange a visit to the slab inventory yards, where you can select your stone slab in person.

Detailed Design

– Takes into consideration the slab

Detail Design is started by selecting and reserving the stone slab(s).

If the client changes their mind about features, the stone or dimension
- New change must be analyzed
- Determine if the change conforms with the proposal requirements, to include at no cost
- If changes are out of scope, it will be an additional cost, i.e, adding an island
Stone slab(s) vein patterns, vein flows & stone characteristic are studied by Nathan
Countertop surfaces are explored to create a detailed design of the best-effort vein flows and pleasing aesthetics
Layout may be reworked a few times to incorporate the best vein flow across multiple surfaces
The design is reworked with a layout that uses allocated regions of the slab to reduce waste
Final design & layout is shared with the clients
For countertop project with four or more stone slabs: Final visual rendering of countertop system is presented for approval
A new digital template is generated
The stone slab(s) are ready to enter the fabrication step

With your requirements, material and aesthetic criteria in hand, Nathan uses his talented design skills as an artist to create a beautiful countertop design. Countertops by Nathan are designed and approved in the following four stages:

High Level Design: At the in-home Free Design Session & Quote, Nathan gathers the client’s requirements that include stone category, stone color, countertop dimensions and countertop features to develop a proposal with a final price and high level design.
- Deliverable: Proposal & Price
Physical Slab Selection: Nathan advises and guides his client on which slabs at the yard fit their specific criteria. He will assist clients with the physical inspection and reserving the slabs to ensure they are happy with the exact stone they will receive.
- Deliverable: Slab(s) Reserved
Detailed Design & Layout: Nathan uses the client’s vision and requirements to create a custom countertop design for multiple surfaces. This is a critical step, especially for large kitchens, where the designer’s expertise is used to create a harmonious and cohesive aesthetic, ensuring vein directions flow naturally and don’t clash.
Nathan will carefully design the best possible layout for the vein pattern of your selected stone. He will ensure best-effort vein flow in the proper direction, exactly as discussed during the templating process. In cases where a seam is necessary, he cannot guarantee that the veins will meet perfectly at the joint; however, he will align the flow so it continues naturally in the direction of the adjoining piece. Nathan will share the layout with the client.
- Deliverable: Digital Template
Final Countertop System Design: This usually defaults to the Detail Design & Layout as seen above. For large countertop projects that require four or more stone slabs, Nathan provides a final visual rendering of the countertop system using the selected slabs. This visualization image allows the client for large or complex projects to see exactly how their finished countertop will look, giving them the confidence to proceed.
